high quality rips

yo,

its october. halloween. the month where anythin can happen. so today i got a blog post for u about the spookiest/scariest thing that ever happened. thats right. we're talkin about april fools day babyyy!!

this year's silvagunner april fools day event was themed around games that only exist in other media, so back in march we were invited to provide some high quality rips of tracks from gameclam games for it and i spent a couple weeks in the audio hole banging out some stuff. i didnt wanna break kayfabe immediately but by now its been 6 months to the day1 since they were released into the public so i think its finally time to explain some fuckin jokes. here they are, in order of when they were uploaded:

GameClam Startup (Acapella)

GameClam Startup (Acapella)

back when i made the jingle for the first gameclam stream, i passed scorpy a couple extra versions, one with just the jingle and one with just the slurp & pop sfx, which i'd labelled "instrumental" and "acapella" respectively. this is just the "acapella" version

GameClam: Next Generation simple JACK Purchase Screen (Sold Out)

GameClam: Next Generation simple JACK Purchase Screen (Sold Out)

this one is kinda hard to explain. what it is is simple enough: its a chunk of vegetal origin that i remade using the same pads i used for the gameclam 5 jingle, then split up into segments to sound like system sounds. explaining why i thought that would be funny, on the other hand, is. well. it's not looking good...

Gran (Theme of Gran)

Gran (Theme of Gran)

i think this is probably the first idea that i had after being asked about gameclam rips cos gran is like. iconic. the entire track is made of nothing but audio from the original trailer, i just chopped up bits of it and messed around with the speed and effects to make it sound like a bunch of fucked up drums & other weard noises. structurally this is nothing like anything else i've ever made so i kinda just copied the vague shape of the art of war from the tf2 soundtrack. i think it came out ok given i only spent like 2 days on it?

Past the Pigs (Vs. Dice Soul)

Past the Pigs (Vs. Dice Soul)

the original intention here was to make a "menu theme that goes unnecessarily hard" type track so i started by chopping up card shop, but it got out of hand fast and quickly morphed into another idea we threw around in the group dm: "crazy & totally out of place breakbeat track". at this point the only thing left from that first version is the card shop intro sample at the very start, and the rest is a messy breakbeat hogcore hardcore2 track littered with oinks, squeals, and the harrowing sounds of a man being turned into a pig

definitely this is the track i spent the most time on, i think probably 4-5 days of the week or so i had time to work on rips was blown on this, but the frustrating part is that the track actually came together in a couple days and the rest of the time was spent almost entirely on trying to make the awful pig squealing sample fit into the rest of the mix properly. in the end i gave up and accepted it as it is and i think its probably funnier for it even it still pisses me off a bit when i hear it. i guess im pretty happy with how the track came out overall tho

Gates of Priapus (Homer's Special Challenge)

Gates of Priapus (Homer's Special Challenge)

the last of my rips is probably the most tenuous in its connection to gameclam but it has a whole story behind it. it's actually a file called "help.flac" which i made mostly by accident in the late 00s when i loaded up too many vsts at once in sony acid and my parents compaq presario decided it was sick of my bullshit and unleashed what as a 16 year old was probably the most foul audio i'd ever heard, so obviously i opened up audacity and recorded a few minutes of it. not long after, "play your music" type games like audiosurf and beat hazard started popping off in the steam chat so i unleashed it into my internet friends' shared audio folder and it got treated as an endurance test for a bit until we all moved on to other games and forgot about it. a decade later wayne made the cock hero home depot vid and included like a second of it at the end as a "special challenge", and then for gameclam 4 kami made the cock hero pearl edition trailer, and now here we are. what the fuck was i talking about again....?

well thats all of em & pretty much all i had to say about em too. i had a lot of fun making these (the 3 new ones i mean) and it seems like folks online enjoyed them too so like. hell yea. i've put em in a separate youyube playlist for convenience but really i'd recommend checking out the full playlist of gameclam rips cos the tracks everyone else made are fuckin great too. thx 2 the silvagunner folks for giving me the opportunity to do this & thx 2 scorpy for makin cool vis for all of em (especially the cock hero one, holy shit)!

til next time!
